Michael Eschmann

Board Chairman

Michael Eschmann brings a wealth of expertise and entrepreneurial experience to his role as Board Chairman. He is a dedicated professional whose career has been built around three pillars: renewable energy and climate finance, development economics and impact investing, and process optimization for startups and SMEs. He currently serves as Co-Founder and COO of MPower Ventures AG, where he has been active since January 2018. His background as an entrepreneur and his deep knowledge in sustainable development and emerging market investments positions him to provide strategic vision and guidance for the organization's growth. Mr. Eschmann’s strategic and advisory experience spans several key institutions in the finance and innovation sectors. He has served as a Member of the External Investment Advisory Group (EIAG) for the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart since June 2019, and as an Expert for Innosuisse (the Swiss Agency for Innovation Promotion) since May 2018. Earlier in his career, he served as a Project Coordinator and RE Finance Expert at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, where he was instrumental in the implementation of consultancy mandates in renewable energy finance for development banks and agencies. His primary project in this role was the Seed Capital Assistance Facility (SCAF), a co-financing facility for early-stage renewable energy investments in Asia and Africa. A strong educational foundation underpins Mr. Eschmann’s global perspective. He holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in International Relations from Johns Hopkins SAIS and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics from the Universität Zürich. His international experience is further highlighted by his work in various locations, including Bogota, Washington DC, Frankfurt, and Chicago. An accomplished linguist, he is proficient in five languages: German, French, English, Spanish, and Italian.
