Dr. Cynthia Ayorkor Sallah

Board Member

Dr. Cynthia Ayorkor Sallah is a distinguished Chartered Accountant and senior audit professional with over 20 years’ experience in financial reporting, auditing, forensic accounting, corporate finance, and insolvency. She currently serves as the Deputy Director-General (Technical & Field Operations, TFO) at Ghana’s Internal Audit Agency,where she oversees technical field operations and ensures excellence in audit practice and risk management across the public sector. Prior to this, Dr. Sallah had a long tenure at KPMG Ghana, where she rose through the ranks from Trainee Accountant to Senior Manager and ultimately headed the Practice Management Unit until 2024. She holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (2018), an MBA in Finance, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG). In addition to her executive roles, she lends her expertise broadly: she is a Board Member of the Ghana Integrity Initiative; Vice-President of the ICAG Council for 2024–2026; and contributes to tertiary education as a guest/part-time lecturer. Prior to her current appointment, Dr. Sallah held senior leadership roles with KPMG Ghana, having begun her journey there as a Trainee Accountant in 1998. She progressed through various positions — audit, compliance, practice management — including a secondment to KPMG Manchester (UK), working on complex audits and financial services engagements. She earned her qualifications as a Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana), holds an MBA in Finance, and completed a doctorate in Business Administration, where her research and thesis work won recognition (Optimus Mulierem Best Woman Thesis Award). On the Board, she brings a strong combination of technical depth, ethical commitment, and strategic oversight. Her experience advising financial institutions, supervising audit functions, and navigating both regulatory and operational risk makes her a valuable contributor to governance, compliance, and accountability. Dr. Sallah also contributes to professional development, teaching and mentoring the next generation of accountants, and holds leadership roles with professional bodies including ICAG (Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana).
